Arborio ricefields

ARBORIO RICE

Risotto rice, such as Arborio, has a round grain that releases starch during cooking. This creates the creamy texture that risotto is known for. Naturally, our Arborio risotto rice comes from sunny Italy.

How do you prepare risotto rice?

  • Cook 1 part Arborio risotto rice in 3 parts stock.
  • Add the stock gradually while stirring continuously.
  • Simmer for 18-20 minutes until the rice is creamy but still al dente. 

Tip: Perfect for classic risottos with mushrooms or asparagus.

Basmati rice field

BASMATI RICE

Basmati rice is known for its long, slender grains and delicious aroma. This rice remains fluffy and is ideal for Asian and Indian dishes. 

How do you prepare white basmati rice? 

  • Cook 1 part basmati rice in 2 parts water.
  • Simmer gently for 9-11 minutes with the lid on.
  • Leave covered for another 5 minutes.

Want the taste and aroma of basmati rice, but with extra fibre and nutrients? Then choose whole grain basmati rice! In that case, add an extra part water and simmer the rice for 30-35 minutes.

Tip: Rinse the rice before cooking to achieve an extra fluffy texture. Add spices such as cardamom or cinnamon to the cooking water for extra aroma. 

Jasmin rice fields

JASMIN RICE

Jasmine rice has a slightly sticky texture and a subtle floral aroma. Perfect for Thai and other Asian dishes!

How do you prepare white jasmine rice?

  • Cook 1 part basmati rice in 1.5 to 2 parts water.
  • Simmer gently for 9-11 minutes with the lid on.
  • Leave covered for another 5 minutes.

For extra fibre and nutrients, go for the whole grain variety. In that case, cook 1 part jasmine rice in 3 to 4 parts water for 30-35 minutes.

BROWN RICE

Brown rice is a whole grain rice variety in which the nutritious husks are still intact. This makes it rich in fibre and perfect for a nutritious and filling dish.

How do you prepare brown rice?

  • Cook 1 part brown rice in 3 to 4 parts water.
  • Simmer for 30-35 minutes.
  • Leave covered for another 5 minutes and stir with a fork.

Tip: Combine brown rice with vegetables and legumes for a complete meal!

TIP: WHAT TO DO WITH LEFTOVER RICE?

Have you cooked too much rice? Don't throw it away! Here are a few clever ways to reuse leftover rice:

  • Make fried rice: Stir-fry the rice with vegetables, egg and soy sauce for a quick meal.
  • Use it in soup: Add rice to soup for extra filling and texture.
  • Make rice pancakes: Mix rice with an egg and some herbs, shape into small pancakes and fry them in a pan until crispy.
  • Make a rice dessert: Cook the rice with milk, cinnamon and honey for a delicious rice pudding.

Tip: Always store leftover rice in the refrigerator for a maximum of 1 day and reheat it thoroughly before reusing it.
